Providing healthcare in an active seismic zone requires both proactive and reactive capabilities from the entire facilities team-including the Owner, Design Community, General Contractor, and the Trade Contracting Community. Hamilton Construction has assisted our clients in conducting structural surveys of their existing facilities, providing implementation and phasing strategies for the required work, and value engineering proposed structural solutions.
Through the years, we have implemented seismic retrofit projects which included structural steel brace frame and moment frame construction, addition of poured-in-place and thickened shotcrete shear walls, and reinforcement of brick unit masonry walls. Projects such as the 1526 Edgemont Medical Office Building at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles included a phased project approach in conjuction with planned remodels, which allowed continued use of the building during construction.
Hamilton Construction was also instrumental in the aftermath of the Northridge Quake in repairing Tarzana Regional Medical Center, Encino Hospital, and AMI North Hollywood Hospital, completing over five million dollars in repairs while the facilities remained open to the public. With our experience in implementing FEMA projects under both lump sum and negotiated "cost plus a fee" contract formats, we can provide all required project documentation, decision making information, and the quality of construction demanded by our clients. |
